On inspection, the adenoids may be visible in the upper part of the posterior oropharyngeal wall, behind the uvula. This picture was taken with a 30 degree telescope.
In indirect nasopharyngoscopy, the nasopharynx is inspected by depressing the tongue and introducing a small mirror that has been warmed or treated with anti-fog solution. The inverted image of the adenoids is reflected in the mirror.
