Video clip of suspension microlaryngoscopy and excision of vocal cord polyp.
The patient is under general anesthesia without the use of an endotracheal tube. The patient is ventilated by Venturi jet technique. This technique provides the surgeon with an unobstructed view of the vocal cords and allows access to the larynx without the interference of an endotracheal tube. Venturi jet is particularly useful when the CO2 laser is used, since it eliminates the danger of the endotracheal tube catching fire.
