Laryngeal Fracture

This patient sustained multiple facial fractures and a laryngeal fracture in a motorcycle accident.
He was intubated at the scene of the accident.
The above axial CT scan shows a fracture of the thyroid cartilage lamina. Note the presence of an endotracheal tube.
He underwent a tracheotomy followed by an open reduction and internal fixation of the laryngeal fracture with a metal plate and screws (see close-up picture below).
